Pre-Order and Pick-Up

WHY EVERY RESTAURANT SHOULD HAVE PRE-ORDER

The simple answer is that your customers want it! Having worked in many restaurants, I’ve run into several “Interesting” Chefs and Restaurant Managers. As a business owner myself, I understand that it is your establishment and you want to do things your way. The only problem with doing it your way, is that, sometimes, what the customer needs or wants is not fully taken into consideration. I believe that restaurants, pubs, gastro pubs, sub shops, and pizza shops can all gain more loyal customers, by enabling them to order food in advance. This doesn’t have to be for Pick-Up.

For example:

When I regularly go to a restaurant, I know it takes 20-30 minutes for the food to come out of the kitchen. And, if busy, it might take up to 45 minutes for the food to arrive, from the kitchen. Most of the time, this is not an issue because I have allotted the time to dine. Perhaps, I love their lunch specials but I don’t always have enough time. So, I think it would be great to be able to Pre-Order my meal. I still want to eat there but I need to make sure that my food is provided shortly after I sit down.

WHY SHOULD EVERY RESTAURANT HAVE ONLINE ORDERS AND PICK-UP?

Again, because customers want to have that option!

If you expect your customers to pick up the phone and call to order, I would rethink your plan, immediately. The costs of running a restaurant are rising daily, and the only way to combat this is to make sure you automate manual tasks and tap into every possible revenue stream.

  • Busy, working customers, who only have a quick window for lunch

  • Large groups could present chaos for your kitchen and delay other tables

  • Customers who realize you are going to be busy and simply don’t want to wait

WHO IS PICK-UP FOR?

  • People who are in Zoom Meetings, and can’t make a phone call to place an order

  • People who are on public transportation or

  • Gym-goers who are hustling to work and don’t want to wait in lineups

  • Large orders which must be prepared, in advance, to minimize disruption during service
